Bronctent. Broncontent. Brocontent. I’m an Australian so I’m not too caught up in this Bronco stuff, no idea if it’s coming here or when and I’ll never own one.
But I like bits of it. The Wrangler is already one of the more interesting modern cars - available with 2 or 4 removable doors and removable roof parts too . In a world of boring cars the Wrangler is a bright point. The Bronco is trying to take on the Wrangler by designing more stuff into it . I don’t know its whole feature set, but the doors can be had with holes in them and can be stored in the boot. That’s sick. I wish sports cars did that. I wish my car did that. I can store the roof in it and it’s one of the best things about it.
In the 80s/
90s the Japanese bubble and the general good feelings towards sports cars gave us gullwings, engines amidships, all
-wheel-steering, removable roofs and boot lids, digital dashes, heaps of cool stuff. It would be rad
if the SUV craze gave us something like that. Ideally for sports cars -
but if we can get some awesome SUVs, I’ll take it.

I definitely wouldn’t mind if my doors came off. Next car upgrade will definitely be a wagon, but if I had space for two cars (second car garage fees at my apartment are $200/month, which is definitely steep for a toy), I’d have a convertible for the open air quality.

Exactly. Plus it’s illegal to run any vehicle without doors down here anyway...even the Wrangler. So there's not much point in that feature...

We keep the Mustang. We don't get the Bronco. We don't get the diesel Gladiator. We probably won't get the Hellcat Wrangler but Jeep Australia will try very hard for that...

why would you want holes in your door on a sports car? that’ll cause drag and slow you down

i’m lead to believe that its not being built in RHD form

Nope...not a chance. On the other hand, we will get a Ranger/Amarok with a 600Nm V6 diesel.

Are aftermarket soft/tube doors legal? With aftermarket doors on the Wrangler, or factory doors on the 4-door Bronco, you can take the doors off when you’re off the road, anyway.

I love convertibles, but doors off really takes it to a new level. Great experience.

Nope...unless they are ADR complied which means they have to be crash tested in the vehicle they are designed for.
You could take the doors off for offroad but.... why?

Visibility plus why not? It’s delightful, and at lower speeds it’s comfortable in cooler weather as well.
In fact for cooler weather it’s easier to take the doors off than deal with removing the top. The top might not go back on easily if it’s much under 16C.

Oh it’d be fine on the farm ute. But anywhere around here at road speeds above 50 kmh then a dust mask would be compulsory with the doors out. Therefore, complete waste of time.

QUESTION if your vehicle never came with doors is it still legal to drive, like a CJ5 or older Jeep?

Sadly, I don’t think anyone makes a removable door convertible (excepting these offroaders)

Nope. Just means you have to buy one. The 4-door models are effectively a wagon!

They must be able to with a historic original equipment loophole or something , there are cold cars with no doors . I know people drive WWII Willys/Ford Jeeps and WC trucks down there. After WWII there was a ton of equipment in the Pacific all over. I got my M37 so I could have doors since the older WC Dodge have none.

Seriously? Awww. Are they still removable on the Wrangler in Aus?

There might be something weird like a Caterham, or the Atom which doesn’t have doors. But that’s a technicality, nothing regular :)

People miss that sports cars are about more than speed! If I wanted speed, I wouldn’t have an NA 4-cyl from 1990. It’s fast enough, and
it’s draggy enough with the roof off anyway. I’d have the doors off it if I could.

If it complied back then it remains compliant now...so yes old doorless models like CJ5's or Mini Moke's are still okay to scoot around in.

Aftermarket doors could be legal if the supplier was prepared to demonstrate their performance is the equal or better of the OE door through destructive testing. So basically crash testing....no supplier is going to pony up for that.
